Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is proud to be the official health care provider of St. John XXIII. This partnership enables Houston Methodist to provide the onsite Sports Medicine Team including a full-time Athletic Trainer and Team Physician to the student athletes of SJ23. This team strives to deliver the Houston Methodist Experience to the SJ23 campus to ensure student athletes receive excellent sports medicine care and to promote safety while performing at the highest level.

About our Athletic Trainer
A native of the St. Louis area, Shannon Harms graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, followed by her Master of Science in Athletic Training at Stephen F. Austin State University. Shannon has experience working with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys and Rice University Athletics where she spent 6 years serving as the Director of Olympic Sports Medicine. Shannon joined Houston Methodist West Hospital in 2021 where she now employs a variety of high-quality clinical care options to better serve student-athletes and their endeavors at St. John XXIII College Preparatory.

About our Team Physician
Dr. Sarah Abdellatif is a board-certified and fellowship trained primary care sports medicine physician. She specializes in treating those with orthopedic conditions.
Dr. Abdellatif earned her medical degree from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at The University of Wyoming in Casper, Wyoming. She also completed her Sports Medicine Fellowship at The University of Texas at Houston.
As the Team Physician, Dr. Abdellatif brings her expertise as Primary Care Sports Medicine Specialist & Houston Methodist Concussion Specialist to the student athletes of SJ23.
