Library

In support of the St.John XXIII College Preparatory mission, the library program’s mission is to assist students and faculty in a life of service to God, family, and community by providing access to ideas and information.

The program aims to help each student excel and achieve maximum potential by creating a 21st Century learning environment, fostering a love of reading, and promoting the effective use of information and communications technology.

Through collaboration, the librarian partners with the larger St. John XXIII community to empower students to become life-long learners, responsible citizens, and industrious problem solvers.

Parents are encouraged to come and use the library materials and volunteer in the library if time permits.

Students and their parents can access the educational databases from home. These subscription databases contain a wealth of information and are the preferred online sources for coursework. Contact Mrs. Dronet for username and password details.

Donations to the library are always welcome.

Elizabeth Dronet

Read Bio
Mrs. Elizabeth Dronet, a native Louisianan, serves as the campus librarian. Mrs. Dronet earned her B.A. in Secondary Speech and Theatre Education with minors in English and History from McNeese State University and Masters of Library Science from the University of North Texas. She holds Texas teaching certificates in school librarianship, secondary speech education and secondary English education.

Before her time at St. John XXIII, Mrs. Dronet taught communication applications, oral interpretation, and English. She also enjoyed the opportunity to coach speech and debate teams on three campuses and assist with school theatrical productions.

As a librarian, Mrs. Dronet has a special interest in teaching information literacy including the use and evaluation of digital and print resources, collaborating with teachers on how to incorporate Web 2.0 tools for curriculum enhancement, and helping students recognize the importance of asking questions and seeking answers. She serves on the board of both the Bishop Byrne Chapter of the Catholic Library Association, and the Houston Area Independent School Library Network and is the past president of HAISLN.

Mrs. Dronet married her high school sweetheart, David, and together they have twin girls. In her free time she enjoys camping, reading, playing in a pinball league, and going to the theatre.
