Lion Tennis Competes Strongly at District Tournament
The 2024-25 Tennis season concluded in a hard-fought showing at the TAPPS District Tournament, held at Bay Area Racquet Club on March 25th.
The tournament showcased the team's depth and competitive spirit, as numerous Lions advanced past the initial rounds. While the team didn't secure state qualifications, the individual victories highlighted their dedication to development and progress.
Junior Miguel Vera emerged as a standout, securing fifth place in the boys singles category with a decisive victory over teammate Federico Cosson.
Beyond Vera and Cosson's singles performances, the tournament saw notable victories from senior doubles partners Michael Hanania and Peter Rider, as well as freshman Carmen Gutierrez-Fernandez in her singles match. The district competition also featured solid efforts from Sonma Akalonu in singles, and the doubles pairings of Campbell Bland and Monica Robles, Katelyn Adler and Natalia Salgado, and Keaton Williams and David Fernandez. The collective experience gained at the district level promises to serve as valuable motivation for the Lion Tennis team as they look ahead to future seasons.
