SJ23 Alum John Mitchell Earns First Collegiate Win, Strikes Out Navy
The class of 2024 had many great student-athlete signees; the class itself remains one of the largest groups of SJ23 Lions to continue their sport at the collegiate level. SJ23 hopes all Lions are doing well and having a great freshman year. John Mitchell, a freshman at The Air Force Academy is finding success on the mound for the Falcons.
John Mitchell, a Class of 2024 graduate and Cadet Fourth Class (C4C) at The Air Force Academy, made his collegiate debut as a starting pitcher on February 15th against the highly ranked Florida Gators. The right-hander, with a fastball in the low 90s, pitched 4.2 innings, the longest outing by any Falcon pitcher that weekend. He also led the team with four strikeouts.
On February 22nd, Mitchell earned his second career start against Navy. In the highly anticipated matchup, he pitched 5.2 innings, striking out six and allowing only one run on four hits, securing his first collegiate win and improving his season record to 1-1.
Congratulations, John Mitchell! SJ23 is proud and excited to follow your continued success.
