From quiet start to offensive eruption: The Lions' 12-run inning that sealed the deal.
St. John XXIII's baseball team roared to a 15-5 victory over Logos Prep Academy on Saturday, thanks to a huge offensive explosion in the third inning where they scored 12 runs. The Lions batted around the order multiple times in the inning, stringing together hits and taking advantage of walks and Logos Prep miscues. Key plays included hits from Nathan Purvis, Ryan McIntyre, Brody Weir, and Dante Mazzacoli.
Logos Prep scored first, but the Lions quickly answered, taking the lead in the second inning when Luke Myers hit a sacrifice fly to bring a runner home. Purvis pitched three strong innings for St. John XXIII, striking out seven batters, while Myers pitched a scoreless final inning in relief. McIntyre, Weir, and Mazzacoli each had two hits, and Myers and Weir each drove in two runs. The Lions were patient at the plate, drawing eight walks, with Hudson Waits leading the way with three.
The Lions will look to continue their winning streak when they play St. John's on 02/11/25 at 5:00pm.
